This week in Math we learned how to divide 4 digits by 1 digit. The way you do it is the same way as 3 digits divided by 1 digit, but you just go through the steps one more time. It's so easy that an infant could do it.
This week in Science we reviewed for our science test and we took our science test. Everybody got a passing grade!
This week in Language Arts, we finished making our fantasy stories in Story Jumper. You can buy a nice hardcover copy of it for $25.00. We also read two legends. The first was called "How the Turtle Got Its Shell". The second was "How the Red-headed Woodpecker Came to Be".
This week we took a field trip to a farm. We learned many things such as that there are 50 different kinds of show rabbits. Also that make-up has pig oil in it. We also learned that one cow can produce 90 gallons of milk in a month. We also got to see a sheep being sheared. Watch our video about our trip up above.
This week was thrilling.

This week was Easter-tastic!
This week in Science we learned about magnetism and how magnets work. The first and most important thing is electrical safety. Electricity must be used with great care. A strong electric current traveling into your body can be very dangerous. The shock can cause bad burns to your body and make your stop. What is magnetism you might say? Well, magnetism is the force around a magnet. A magnet is anything that pulls iron, steel, and certain other metals to it. What else is there you are probably thinking? A magnetic field is the space around a magnet where magnetism acts. Do you know that magnets have poles which are the south pole and the north pole? Last but not least is the compass. Compasses are small magnets that can turn freely.
In Math this week we learned more about dividing three digits by one digit. One thing that we learned was that if the first number that you are dividing cannot be divided by the number you are dividing by, you go to the second number. If you are having trouble, don't worry. I will give you an example. Here's the example, 299 ÷ 4. Four can't go into 2 right? If you said no, you are right. So we have to go to the next number. So, does 4 go into 24? Yes. So what is 24 divided by 4? Well, count by 4--4, 8, 12, 16, 20, 24, 28, 32--oops, can't do that, so it's 28. So we write a seven on top of the 8 and 4 x 7 is 28 so we write the 28 under the 29. What is 29-28? It is one. Then you bring down the nine. Then how many times does 4 go into 19? Well, 4, 8, 12, 16--can't go any higher than 16 so then we put 4 on the top. Then what is 4 x 4? It's....16. So then we do 19-16, and your answer should be 3.
This week in Language Arts we did our fantasy stories. This week what we did with our fantasy stories was fun! We got to finish typing them on Word. Then we partner edited them with each other to make sure there were NO mistakes. Then we copy and pasted them into StoryJumper. Last, but not least, we did some of our pictures on our story. We are not finished with our tremendous stories yet, but when they are finished they will be very good, each and every one of them. Just a little info on our stories, when they are done you can order them and get it sent to you in a hardcover book. They are $25.00. We hope you get one.
This week of school was tremendous for us and we hope it was for you too.

This week was like a fantasy!
This week in Language Arts, we wrote our fantasy stories and partner edited them. They are all magnificent!
This week in Math, we discovered how to divide 2 digits by 1 digit. Example 63 ÷ by 3. First you do 6 ÷ by 3 = 2. You put the 2 on top. Then multiply 2 x 3 = 6 and put the 6 under the 6 in 63. Then you subtract and bring down the 3 in 63. Then you start all over. Do 3 ÷ by 3 = 1. Put the 1 on top of the 3. Then multiply 1 x 3 = 3 and put the 3 under the 3 you got when you subtracted. Then you subtract 3 - 3 = 0. The answer is 21. We also learned how to divide 3 digits by 1 digit. All you do is the same thing as when you're dividing 2 digits by 1 digit, but you do the steps one more time.
This week in Science, we started learning about electricity. We learned that everything is made up of atoms, and atoms are made up of 3 parts--protons that have a positive charge, electrons that have a negitive charge, and neutrons that have no charge. We also learned about static electricity. In an atom you need to have an equal number of protons and electrons. If you have less electrons in your body than protons, the protons will attract electrons until they are equal. If you have more electrons in your body than protons, your body will try to get rid of the extras. Example: when you rub your feet on the carpet, your body picks up extra electrons. So when you touch someone or something metal, you might get an electric shock. Also we talked about electrical safety. You should never use an electrical object around water. You could get seriously injured or you could die. We also learned about series and parallel circuits. Series circuits are all on one path and parallel circuits each have their own path.
